tbh the gold coating doesnt do much.(it rubs off in no time) My friend used to have those rotors and I recommend that you just use the type of pads according to your style of riding. Organic for XC, SemiMetallic for AM/DJ and Sintered Metallic for DJ/FR/DH. You arent going to damage the rotor. All brake pad brands are pretty much the same. Personally i've been using Avid pads because I run avid brakes, it just made sense. They work great.
